Economist (m/f/d) in the area of sustainability

You will analyse the macroeconomic and financial stability policy implications of climate change and climate policy for the core tasks of the Bundesbank and the Eurosystem. You will focus on environmental and climate risks in central bank models. In doing so, you will take account of national, European and international developments.
Through your work, in consultation with the First Deputy Governor, you will help to set the priorities of the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS). You will work together with other business units to develop strategic positions for the Bundesbank and prepare them for the First Deputy Governor and top-level management.
In addition, you will coordinate and contribute to the Bundesbank’s work in and for the NGFS, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
Unique assets: Your Skills and Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent with a focus on economics, finance, management or other quantitative field
Very good knowledge in the fields of sustainability, climate change and green finance
Good understanding of financial markets and macroeconomic principles, and of the challenges arising from the transition to a low-emission economy
Good knowledge and experience in the use of relevant econometric methods and tools, particularly for the economic assessment of environmental degradation and climate change and the financial risks resulting from them
Good knowledge of international climate objectives, policy measures and (multilateral) agreements, understanding of the workings of international economic and financial institutions
Good knowledge of physical climate and nature-related risks, and their impact on the economy as a whole
Ability to work independently, analytically and as part of a team, with strong intercultural competencies
Capacity to think strategically and act in a solution-oriented manner, combined with strong powers of persuasion and decision-making faculties suitable for a complex international environment
Excellent communication skills in English; German language proficiency would be an advantage
