The Graduate School of Economics at the University of Osaka invites applications for two faculty positions: one in microeconomics and one in macroeconomics. Appointments will be made at the level of tenure-track Assistant Professor (Lecturer), Associate Professor, or Professor, beginning in October 2026 or April 2027 (or as soon as possible thereafter).

The successful candidates will be expected to conduct research and teach at the Graduate School of Economics. The initial contract for a tenure-track Assistant Professor (Lecturer) is for five years, with a tenure review conducted by the end of the fourth year. If tenure is not granted but the candidate is deemed suitable for reappointment, the committee may approve a one-year extension of the contract, which may be granted only once. In that case, a second tenure review will be conducted by the end of the fifth year.

Applicants must have:

A doctoral degree (or must obtain a doctoral degree by the time of employment)

For Associate Professor and Professor positions: Articles published in peer-reviewed journals in the related field(s)

Business-level Japanese language proficiency and the ability to teach undergraduate courses in Japanese and graduate courses in English
