The Department of Economics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor to begin August 10, 2026.

The successful candidate for this position will engage in high quality research, teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and participate in departmental governance and service activities. In addition to our undergraduate program in economics, the department offers an M.S. in Economics program and plays a key role in the Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance, the Ph.D. in Public Policy, and the M.S. in Mathematical Finance programs. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction in one or more of these programs depending on the candidate’s fields of specialization.

We are particularly interested in candidates with research interests in microeconomic theory. Successful candidates should hold a completed doctorate in Economics or a related field by the appointment start date and meet academic qualifications as described in the Belk College Policy on Qualified Faculty Status.

We welcome applications from candidates at all career stages, from recent graduates to more experienced scholars. We are especially interested in candidates who are enthusiastic about collaborating with our existing experimental faculty and who have interests in teaching microeconomic theory I and II (PhD level, with the second course focused on game theory) as well as mathematical economics at the undergraduate level.

The department is committed to fostering an inclusive academic community and welcomes candidates whose research, teaching, or service will contribute to our mission of providing education with profound social and economic value and lifelong impact for students from all backgrounds. While our primary focus is microeconomic theory, we will consider exceptional candidates in other fields.
