SUNY Cortland is accepting applications for a tenure-track position in the Economics Department available Fall 2026.

The successful candidate will become a part of our dynamic and expanding Economics Department, comprised of over 600 undergraduate majors. SUNY Cortland aims to attract faculty members who can contribute to a campus that embraces diversity, practices inclusion, and fosters a supportive environment for all individuals.

Teaching responsibilities include principles and intermediate economics, and upper-level electives that reflect the candidate’s research interests. Teaching load is 3 courses per semester. An active research agenda, student advisement, and service to the department and college are also required.

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. If ABD, degree must be completed by time of initial review for reappointment. Evidence of expertise in the field of economics. Demonstrated potential for scholarly productivity.

Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in Labor, Law and Political Economy, Technology/AI/digital economy and/or Public Policy. Preference will be given to candidates with college teaching experience and demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds. We are also looking for candidates with the potential to bring creative approaches to teaching and have interest in mentoring and collaborating with undergraduate researchers.
