The Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health (Columbia Mailman or the School) invites applications and nominations for the Thomas Campbell Jackson and Pamela Brandt Jackson Chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM). The ideal candidate is a distinguished leader with a global reputation in health systems, policy, and management, and a strong commitment to promoting equitable and effective public health through research, teaching, and practice.

Reporting to the Dean and serving on the School’s leadership team, the Chair will set a forward-looking vision for the Department, leveraging its strengths to address challenges in health policy and management. The Chair will foster faculty excellence, advance educational innovation, and prepare students to lead across health care and public health.

The successful candidate will have a record of scholarly achievement, external funding, and demonstrated leadership and management experience, along with a commitment to mentorship, collaboration, and diversity.

The Department of Health Policy and Management
Established in 1945, HPM is one of the nation’s largest and most respected departments, with two dozen full-time and 80 part-time faculty and about 400 students. Chair of Health Policy and Management Key Responsibilities:

Lead research and education initiatives.

Support faculty recruitment, mentorship, and development.

Advance fundraising and alumni engagement.

Qualifications:
PhD, MD, DrPH, or JD; recognized scholarship and leadership; record of research funding; experience managing faculty and budgets; and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student engagement.
