Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Department of Economics and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences seek to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Agricultural Economics. This position works with the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development and the Iowa State Extension farm management team. The approximate responsibility division is 62% extension, 25% research, 8% teaching, and 5% service.
The individual will develop nationally recognized extension and research programs in the economics of agricultural production and technology, emphasizing livestock production, supply chains, management, and marketing. The extension program addresses critical livestock issues, including marketing and risk management, contracting, market concentration and performance, agricultural and trade policies, new technologies, animal health, and regulatory issues. They will oversee the ISU estimated livestock returns databases and network with livestock organizations. They’ll maintain active projects under the auspices of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station.
The research and teaching activities are envisioned to be synergistic with the extension activities, leading to applied extension materials targeting producers, agribusiness professionals, and other groups; original research in agricultural economics leading to publication; and conference presentations. The successful candidate will generate extramural funds to support extension and research. Candidates may direct graduate student research and serve on graduate academic plan committees.
