The Department of Economics and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences seek to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Agricultural Economics. This position works with the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development and the Iowa State Extension farm management team. Approximate division of responsibilities for this position are 62% extension, 25% research, 8% teaching, and 5% service.

This individual will develop nationally recognized extension and research programs in the economics of agricultural production and technology, emphasizing farm management, agricultural and bioenergy policy, and crop marketing. Their program will be expected to address critical farm management issues relevant to Iowa and beyond, including the economics of farm management and marketing, impacts of agricultural policies, and innovation of new production/marketing opportunities at farm levels. They will maintain active projects under the auspices of the Iowa Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station.

The research and teaching activities will synergize with extension activities, applying extension materials to targeting producers, agribusiness professionals, and others; original research in agricultural economics leading to publications in appropriate refereed journals and other professional outlets; and presentations at conferences. They’ll generate extramural funds for extension and research. Candidates may direct graduate student research and serve on graduate academic plan committees.
