NBER's Post-Doctoral Fellowship on the Economics of Crime offers an early-career economist the opportunity to carry out a two-year research project relating to the economics of crime and criminal justice in the United States at NBER's Cambridge headquarters. Projects must include a strong causal research design, focusing on measurable behaviors and outcomes.
Fellows will be supported by Arnold Ventures. The second year of support is contingent upon funding renewal. Applications from researchers just completing their PhDs, as well as from junior faculty who may be able to combine the fellowship with early career leave, are welcome.
The fellowship provides an annual stipend of $110,000, reimbursement for health insurance, other research funds for project support, including a travel allowance, and office space at NBER.
Applicants must have completed their PhD by June 2026.
