The School of Accounting and Finance is one of the constituent units of the Faculty of Business and is the longest-established accounting school in Hong Kong, with over 80 full-time academic and teaching staff in the areas of accounting, finance, economics, and law. The School has adequate resources to support a variety of research interests and activities, and has a comparative advantage in promoting cross-disciplinary research that is needed in the modern business world. The School has maintained an excellent network with overseas and Mainland China institutions for collaborative work.

The research of our Faculty of Business has been ranked 35th in the world (The UTD Top 100 Worldwide Business School Rankings based on research contributions for the period 2020-2024). During the last few years, faculty members were successful in publishing their research papers in top-tier refereed journals, including Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, and Contemporary Accounting Research.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) initiate, lead, and participate in scholarly research in their areas of expertise and be active in research leading to quality journal publications and in bidding for external research grants and applied research projects;

(b) conduct research in related areas and contribute to the development of the School’s research strengths;

(c) supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses;

(d) undertake teaching duties at various levels in the area of economics;

(e) engage in programme/curriculum planning, development and administration; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of School or her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a PhD degree in a related discipline;

(b) a proven record in research and scholarships;

(c) solid experience in teaching and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research; and

(d) excellent communication skills and the ability to use English as the medium of instruction.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term, gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
