The Department of Economics in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in the area of Applied Microeconomics beginning August 2026 with rank to be determined at hire.
The successful candidate will be able to teach Microeconomics of Banking, Development Economics, Environmental Economics, and Machine Learning Methods at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates from other areas of applied microeconomics are also encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will pursue an active research agenda within Applied Microeconomics with strong empirical and statistical programming skills in handling large datasets. We also welcome candidates who have experience in applying machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to their research projects to apply to this position.
The successful candidate will also demonstrate a record of, or potential for, excellence in teaching with an emphasis on promoting the success of students; clear evidence of scholarly potential; and commitment to working with diverse populations and serving as an active member of the university community.
This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the economics discipline, research, and service to the university, profession, and community. Ph.D. in Economics is required.
ABD candidates are encouraged to apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date of August 2026; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2027 in advance of their first scheduled review.
Criminal background check is required for employment. The Economics Department is one of the seven departments of the AACSB-accredited College of Business and Economics.
