Description
The Yale Research Initiative on Innovation & Scale (Y-RISE) at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University seeks to hire a Research Fellow starting AY 2024-2025 or earlier. The Research Fellow will commence in Bangladesh for an 18-month term. Pending University approval, and conditional on annual satisfactory progress and performance review, there is a possibility for an 18-month appointment as Postdoctoral Associate at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut.

Candidates must have research experience in social sciences or public policy. This position is best suited for someone who is interested in directly managing large-scale research trials and working closely with local partners to ensure sound research design and policy relevance.

This role will focus on the complexities that arise when taking development interventions to scale. With the complexities of scale as a central interest, research and policy activities may span a broad range of topics such as climate change adaptation; water, sanitation, and hygiene, migrant integration and livelihoods; income generation; agricultural extensions; transportation; housing and infrastructure; and delivery of mental health and education services. Additionally, this role will be able to pursue their own research interest and receive support to start and grow projects. The successful candidate will work closely with Ahmed Mushfiq Mobarak and several Y-RISE research affiliates from leading universities. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and complies with the Yale Office of Postdoctoral Affairs compensation policy and includes a benefits package.

The responsibilities in this position could include, but are not limited to:
• Developing new research projects in partnership with Y-RISE
• Engaging in research and primary data collection activities in partnership with Y-RISE
• Teaching one course per year (only when stationed at Yale University)

Requirements:
• A Ph.D. in economics, public policy, or other quantitative social science disciplines such as political science or demography by the time of appointment. The PhD should have been earned within the last three years.
• Attention to detail and advanced writing and presentation skills for communicating policy lessons.
• Ability to work in Bangladesh; proficiency in Bangla highly desired
