The Department of Agricultural Economics and Economics at Montana State University is hiring a tenure-track faculty member whose work focuses on the economics of agricultural production and farm management. The position includes a balanced mix of teaching, research, and service, with opportunities to engage students, contribute to impactful scholarship, and participate in outreach at various levels. This role is jointly funded by the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station and the College of Agriculture.
Required Qualifications:
-Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or Economics or related field prior to the starting date.
-Strong potential for effectiveness in teaching, scholarship, and outreach/service.
-Demonstrated interest in scholarship relevant to commercial agriculture, applicable to commercial agriculture in Montana, especially in the following research areas: production economics, farm/ranch management, agricultural marketing, precision agriculture, energy economics, and financial risk management.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Demonstrated success in scholarship and teaching.
-Scholarship and outreach interests that contribute to the MAES mission.
-Strength in economic theory and quantitative analysis.

-Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication
-Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals from various backgrounds
-Proven capacity to contribute meaningfully to DAEE’s teaching, research, and outreach missions
