The University of Wyoming’s Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics seeks applicants for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Regional Economics, with a focus on community economic development. The position carries a majority extension appointment, complemented by research responsibilities, and includes an appointment as Faculty Fellow with the UW Center for Business and Economic Analysis.

We invite applicants eager to address the economic challenges and opportunities facing Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain West, including boom/bust cycles, rural-urban disparities, public land policy, and natural resource stewardship. Potential topic areas include agricultural entrepreneurship and agrotourism, rural workforce development, local government fiscal health, rural housing and healthcare, broadband access, and balanced approaches to economic development and conservation.

The successful candidate will develop an applied research and extension program, publish in peer-reviewed journals, engage with diverse stakeholders, and secure external funding. Opportunities exist to teach at the undergraduate or graduate level and to mentor MS students.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or related field by time of hire; expertise in regional economics or community economic development.
