Research & Planning Consultants, LP has an immediate opening for a MA or PhD economist. A candidate with experience working with healthcare claims or in healthcare planning would be ideal. This person will be part of the team preparing expert reports for our clients. RPC is based in Austin, Texas, and was founded in 1972. RPC provides economic analysis, life care plans, and vocational evaluations, for plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury and commercial litigation. Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. RPC offers competitive salary that will be negotiated based on the degrees and experience of the candidate. We offer a potential annual bonus based on the performance of the individual and of the firm. RPC economists are supported by economic assistants, legal nurse consultants, certified coders, life care planners, vocational consultants, accountants, and document production staff. We have a panel of physiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, and neuropsychologists to provide medical opinions.
Duties
Interface with client law firms to obtain documents requested by RPC.
Conduct literature searches and interviews to obtain information
Analyze data using EXCEL, SQL, and/or STATA as appropriate
Prepare expert reports and demonstrative exhibits for personal injury and commercial litigation and for regulatory filings.
Prepare project files for production in discovery and back-up books for use by RPC testifying experts
Perform other related duties as may be required occasionally.
Participate in RPC continuing legal education programs and other marketing activities.
Participate in RPC’s economic research and academic publications in the areas of health and forensic economics
Qualifications:
Applicant must have completed doctoral degree in economics or in a professional degree program with heavy emphasis on economics and quantitative analysis
Resident of Texas or adjacent state
Legal status to work permanently in the United States
Proficiency in SQL and/or STATA, WORD, and EXCEL
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion and good judgment
Location and hours: The RPC office is at 6300 La Calma Drive, Austin, Texas 78752. Staff within reasonable commuting distance of the office are expected to have a hybrid schedule. Staff living outside the Austin area are expected to come to Austin for orientation and as needed but may live anywhere with excellent internet connectivity and reasonable access to a commercial airport. We have excellent IT support. The person must be available for calls and meetings between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Central Time. Some evening and weekend work is required to meet project deadlines.
