The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) seeks applicants for a Research Scientist position to support several research projects in health economics. The studies focus on Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in Medicare claims data. The position will be supervised by Dr. Kosali Simon (Indiana University and NBER) and Dr. Adam Sacarny (Columbia University and NBER).
All applicants should have advanced knowledge of the R programming language, health care claims data, and Unix/Linux systems. Experience with Stata and/or Python is encouraged but not required. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Economics, Health Services Research, Public Policy, Public Health, or a related quantitative field or should anticipate completing such a degree by spring 2025.
This position is a unique opportunity for those looking to contribute to impactful research on health economics, especially on topics related to Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and aging. Applicants will have opportunities to co-author research with the investigators.
While we expect the position to be remote, applicants are encouraged to inquire about opportunities to work in-person at the NBER (Cambridge, MA or New York, NY), Columbia University (New York, NY), or Indiana University (Bloomington, IN).
