The Burning Glass Institute is a leading labor market research center focused on workforce trends, equity, and talent development. We seek a data-driven Economist to lead research on U.S. labor markets, education, worker mobility, and firm behavior.
This is a data-intensive role involving large-scale datasets (e.g., job postings, worker histories, BLS, Census), with a focus on generating insights that inform policy and business practice. You’ll design methodologies, conduct quantitative analysis in R/Python and SQL, and translate findings into accessible reports and visualizations. Projects will involve close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
Master’s in economics, data science, or a related field
Strong econometric skills and experience with large datasets
Proficiency in R or Python and SQL
Experience designing and executing independent research
Clear communication skills for non-technical audiences
Interest in labor markets and workforce policy
Preferred:
Ph.D. or 3+ years of relevant experience
Background in applied micro/labor economics
Familiarity with NLP or machine learning
