Research Assistant - Weather Economics Project
Professor Abhishek Nagaraj at NBER seeks a full-time research assistant for a NOAA-funded project studying how weather forecasts impact small business performance in the American West. The position involves analyzing large-scale weather and business data to quantify the economic value of improved weather forecasts. The research assistant will join Professor Nagaraj's Data Innovation Lab.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree, strong programming skills (Python/R/Stata), experience with large datasets, and interest in applied microeconomics, innovation economics, or management of innovation. Background in environmental economics or atmospheric sciences is a plus.
Key responsibilities include processing weather and business performance data, conducting statistical analyses, and contributing to academic papers and policy briefs. The position offers opportunities to develop empirical research skills and collaborate with NOAA scientists.
One-year appointment starting July 2025, with possible second-year renewal. Based at NBER. Open to U.S. citizens and those with valid U.S. work permits only.
Requirements:
