The Department of Economics at McMaster University invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship starting July 1, 2025. Candidates must have received their doctorate since July 1, 2020, or expect to do so by December 31, 2025.

Applicants should have expertise in applied economics in a field such as labour, health, public, or international economics. The fellow will engage in the Department's daily activities and conduct independent research related to productivity, broadly defined. A wide range of research areas will be considered, including but not limited to: human capital (including its interaction with health); immigration; labour markets; education and training; worker and institutional productivity in the health or government sectors or in specific industries; consequences of taxes and transfer programs; investment and financial markets’ international competition; and the effects of regulation and trade policies.

The Productivity Partnership (https://www.productivitypartnership.ca/) partially funds this position. Experience with microdata analysis related to productivity, especially firm or workplace data, is an asset, particularly if relevant to Canada.

The fellowship offers a $70,000 annual stipend, including teaching one 3-unit course per year. Additionally, up to $8,000 is provided for research expenses, such as computer hardware, software, technical books, journals, and conference travel.
