The College of Integrative Studies (CIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) is established in 2022. It is SMU’s seventh School and plays a pivotal role in helping students traverse the disciplinary areas associated with the other SMU Schools. The CIS also delivers the University’s Core Curriculum for all students. It emphasizes the importance of integrating ideas and perspectives across disciplines to derive new solutions in areas related to SMU’s Strategic Priorities.

We are looking to fill one full-time position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer of Economics.

The successful candidate will:
• deliver up to eight (8) sections of undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses assigned by the Dean in consultation with the individual faculty member. We are seeking individuals who can teach Economics & Society to first year students (https://www.smu.edu.sg/programmes/core-curriculum/course-structure/economics-society). Interested faculty may have an opportunity to other courses, either graduate or undergraduate, according to their teaching interests and in consultation with the Dean/Associate Dean;

• develop teaching and learning materials for the course curricula, including online material, videos, test banks, grading rubrics, adaptive learning tools, handouts, cases, and textbook, where appropriate. CIS encourages blended learning modalities for the execution of Core Curriculum courses, including Economics & Society;

• provide academic advice to students regarding the relevant course material, as well as general program planning, course selection and related academic matters; and

• provide service to the School, including participation in events, outreach activities and engagement with stakeholders.

Applicants should have experience in active and blended learning pedagogy, and a track record of excellent teaching. A PhD in Economics is required. Experience in teaching entry level economics courses and an interest in multidisciplinary work (teaching and/or research) encompassing societal elements is desirable.
