Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Market Shaping Accelerator (MSA), directed by leading scholars on the economics of innovation including Nobel laureate Michael Kremer (UChicago), President of the Center for Global Development Rachel Glennerster, and Dartmouth College professor Christopher Snyder, seeks a postdoctoral scholar in economics to lead high-impact proposals and contribute to research on market shaping.

MSA aims to catalyze the development of Advance Market Commitments and other market shaping mechanisms to incentivize innovations addressing pressing global challenges such as climate change and biosecurity. MSA identifies promising opportunities, develops high-impact proposals, and engages with policymakers and funders. This position may be based at Dartmouth College or in Washington, D.C.

Candidates should have a strong background in applied economic theory and, ideally, empirical methods. They should have a strong economic intuition, and be able to develop models to answer relevant questions that pertain to the design of innovation incentives in contexts with substantial market failures. They should be enthusiastic about influencing policy.

This one-year position has no teaching commitments. 20% of the scholar’s time will be allocated to their own research.
