Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Department of Economics, located in the College of Business at University of Central Flor-ida (UCF), invites applications for a professor who conducts research in any field of economics. This is a nine-month tenured position with an anticipated start date of August 8, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates for the position must (i) hold a Ph.D. in economics or a related discipline from an accredited institution, (ii) have a publication record consistent with a tenured professor in the Department of Economics at UCF, and (iii) possess a teaching record that demonstrates quality instruction and meaningful student engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include (i) a publication record that demonstrates the ability to publish in the best general interest or field journals in economics, (ii) the ability to reach and inspire heterogeneous students whose training varies substantially, and (iii) the ability, experience, and willingness to take a leadership role in the department in the not-too-distant future.

Furthermore, applicants who (iv) have demonstrated excellence in teaching as evidenced by de-partmental, college, university or professional association recognition for contributions to teaching, and (v) exhibit the willingness to offer an economics course to the general student population in an effort to attract students to the college and show them the power and reach of the economic way of thinking, may be awarded the Kenneth White and James Xander Profes-sorship in Economics. The professorship is endowed, open to any field in economics, and car-ries a three-course teaching load per academic year.

The White-Xander Professorship is the result of a generous gift from Professor R. Glenn Hub-bard, who completed his undergraduate degree in economics at UCF. The gift honors two eco-nomics faculty who changed Professor Hubbard’s academic trajectory by way of their ability to reach and inspire undergraduates in the classroom. The holder of the White-Xander Professor-ship is expected to do the same.

Application Process:
UCF requires that applications and supporting documents be submitted electronically through the Human Resources website: https://www.ucf.edu/jobs. In addition to the online application, applicants must also submit (1) a cover letter that addresses how the minimum and preferred qualifications are met, (2) a curriculum vitae, and (3) the names of three individuals who may be asked to provide a professional reference, and (4) evidence of teaching effectiveness.

The selected candidate is required to submit official transcripts (and, as applicable, U.S. degree equivalency evaluations) documenting the conferral of their qualifying academic credentials.

Nota Bene: Please have all documents ready when applying so they can be simultaneously up-loaded. Once the online submission process is finalized, the system does not allow applicants to submit additional documents later.

Consideration of applicants will begin immediately. Applications will be accepted until the po-sition is closed. Questions regarding the search should be directed to Professor Roberto Bur-guet, Chair of the Search Committee, at Roberto.BurguetVerde@ucf.edu.

University of Central Florida is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, protected Veteran status, age, or any other characteristic protected by law.
