The Department of Economics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor to begin August 11, 2025.

The successful candidate for this position will engage in high quality research, teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and participate in departmental governance and service activities. In addition to our undergraduate program in economics, the department offers an M.S. in Economics program and plays a key role in the Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance, the Ph.D. in Public Policy, and the M.S. in Mathematical Finance programs. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction in one or more of these programs depending on the candidate’s fields of specialization.

Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in applied microeconomics (empirical and/or theory). Candidates should have a completed doctorate in Economics or a related field by the start of the appointment and must meet academic qualifications as described in the Belk College Policy on Qualified Faculty Status. Applicants should provide evidence of the potential for high-quality research and teaching. We welcome applications from true junior candidates and from those who are more advanced.

The department seeks candidates whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to providing education with profound social and economic value and lifelong impact for students from all backgrounds.
