The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Georgia seeks an Economic Impact Analysis Specialist. This position is a 75% public service and 25% teaching role, focusing on economic impact analysis of Georgia’s agricultural and hospitality sectors. Key responsibilities include producing annual economic impact reports at both state and county levels, analyzing industry trends, and leading grant and contract work to support regional and community development planning. Additionally, the specialist will coordinate, develop, and deliver training programs for food and fiber-related firms, the hospitality industry, and county Extension agents. The role also includes teaching two courses per year, requiring the ability to communicate complex economic concepts effectively to audiences with diverse backgrounds.
Candidates should possess strong oral and written communication skills and be experienced in economic impact methods and tools (e.g., IMPLAN) as well as in related report writing. A Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics, or a closely related field is preferred, along with a record of impactful outreach and research.
