The Baker School of Public Policy and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (open rank) in Energy Policy to begin in August 2025.

We are searching for an expert in energy and environmental policy, with an emphasis on economics, to partner with our Center for Energy, Transportation, and Environmental Policy to conduct funded research, deliver in-person and online courses for students and working professionals, and engage in public service and outreach. The Baker School offers a Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs, a Master of Public Policy, and a Master of Public Administration, with concentrations in energy and environmental policy in partnership with the Herbert College of Agriculture, Tickle College of Engineering, and the Tennessee Valley Authority.

We are seeking scholars who have.
● a doctoral degree in economics, public policy, or a relevant field
● an active research program
● a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education
● the ability to develop and deliver courses in public, regional, and/or energy economics.

Candidates who have experience in securing and executing externally funded research are preferred, though this is not a requirement.
The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary hiring initiative to build the new Baker School, the first such organization at a public institution in the State of Tennessee. UTK is located in Knoxville, Tennessee, a thriving community located near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
