The Department of Applied Economics and Statistics at the University of Delaware seeks a qualified candidate as a Postdoctoral Researcher for a period of up to 2 years. Applicants must have experience with and knowledge of computer programming for the purpose of coding web-based valuation tools for benefit cost analysis and optimization. The successful candidate will focus their research on measuring ecosystem service benefits related to water management projects and calculating appropriate benefit transfers to existing and proposed projects in the United States. There may be additional opportunities to participate in research projects related to oyster reef restoration in the Gulf Coast of the United States. The position offers a competitive salary that is commensurate with qualifications and experience, including an attractive benefit package.
Applicants are expected to have strong training and experience in computer programming of web-based applications, and in environmental and resource economics, especially in the measurement of ecosystem service benefits and benefits transfer. A background knowledge of ecology, ecosystem function, stated and revealed preference elicitations, and econometrics will be helpful. A PhD in economics or applied economics (or closely related field) is required. Strong written and communication skills are critical.
