The UCLA Master of Quantitative Economics program (MQE) invites applications for Lecturers with domain expertise in machine learning emphasizing applications to the fields of economics and finance for the 2024-2025 academic year. A reasonable estimate for this position is $68,247- $192,040. The instructor will develop and teach this applied Machine Learning course within the Master of Quantitative Economics program. Responsibilities of the position will include developing the syllabus and course; delivering lectures and applied lessons; holding regularly scheduled weekly office hours; being responsive and helpful to students; developing and grading assignments and providing guidance to students involved in co-curricular applied projects. Applicants are expected to have:
• Master’s degree or higher in economics, data analytics, statistics, computer science, electrical
engineering or equivalent
• Experience applying a variety of machine learning techniques in industry, such as supervised and
unsupervised learning, regression, classification, clustering, and deep learning. Applications in
economics and finance are a strong plus
• Excellent verbal communication skills, capable of leading lectures of 75+ students
• Advanced knowledge of the application of technical or mathematical concepts to professional settings
