The University of St. Thomas Department of Economics invites applications for a non-tenure track Teaching Professor position beginning September 1, 2025.  This position is for a teaching specialist whose responsibilities are in the areas of teaching and other student-centered services, including but not limited to mentoring students in co-curricular activities, leading student research, and contributing to the curricular and pedagogical needs of the department. The appointment is renewable annually, subject to performance reviews and ongoing need for the position.

Candidates from all fields of economics will be considered.  The successful candidate will teach principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics, either intermediate microeconomics or intermediate macroeconomics, and potentially an elective in the candidate’s area(s) of interest.  The teaching load is 7 courses over the academic year in a small class setting with typically 1 or 2 preparations per term. The Teaching Professor will be an integral part of the department and its long-term commitment to teaching excellence.  In addition to their teaching and other student-centered responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in university and department service. 

The department seeks an individual with a demonstrated record of independent teaching excellence and commitment to high-quality instruction.  The department especially seeks individuals able to work with diverse students and colleagues, who have experience with a variety of teaching methods and perspectives, and who are committed to working in a liberal arts setting.  Applicants must have a Ph.D. (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Economics or alternatively, ABDs nearing completion of the Ph.D. or, alternatively, applicants with a master's degree in economics and 5 or more years of full-time teaching experience (or its equivalent) will be considered. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
