Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Economics Department welcomes applications for an open rank position to start Fall 2025 in the field of cybersecurity economics. Applicants with research interests in topics like the economics of privacy, economics of digitization and online marketplaces, law and economics, or cybersecurity applied to settings like financial or health sectors are encouraged to apply. Completion of Ph.D. by start date is required.

This position is part of an initiative to develop the UMBC Cybersecurity Institute. Institute-affiliated faculty have primary appointments in the Economics Department but are expected to collaborate with the institute.

The committee will evaluate candidates on a job market paper, established publication record, letters of recommendation, research statement, evidence of teaching excellence, and teaching statement. The successful candidate will display commitment to diversity and inclusion.

UMBC is an R1 research university located between Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. The Economics Department has 15 research faculty and offers undergraduate degrees in Economics and Financial Economics, and a Master’s in Economic Policy Analysis.
