The Department of Economics at Texas Christian University (TCU) invites applications for a renewable, non-tenure-track Instructor position beginning August 2025. The position carries a 4/4 teaching load and no formal research expectation but offers a competitive salary, benefits, two potential promotions in rank (Instructor II and Senior Instructor), the possibility of multi-year contracts, and annual support for professional development including research activity.

The Department seeks a creative economics educator with a passion for student engagement inside and outside of the classroom and a demonstrated commitment to active learning and effective, inclusive teaching in a liberal arts context. The successful candidate will offer two or more of our required foundation courses: introductory microeconomics, introductory macroeconomics, intermediate microeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, contending perspectives in economics, or econometrics. Of particular interest are candidates able to inspire students from diverse backgrounds and develop elective courses complementary to the Department’s current offerings.

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in economics by August 2025.

By November 25, interested individuals should submit a cover letter, vita, statement of teaching philosophy, and evidence of effective teaching to jobs.tcu.edu and arrange for three confidential letters of recommendation to be submitted to the AEA JOE system. The statement of teaching philosophy should explicitly address contributions and goals for inclusive teaching. Applications will be considered incomplete and not evaluated if three letters are not submitted by the deadline.

Departmental representatives will conduct virtual interviews in early December. Finalists will be invited to campus for in-person interviews.

The TCU Department of Economics is part of the AddRan College of Liberal Arts and offers three undergraduate majors: BA Economics, BS Economics, and BS International Economics. The Department aims to educate students in the theories, methods, and intellectual diversity of modern economics. Our 350+ majors are served by 15 full-time faculty members, a committed group of active scholars, and award-winning teachers who approach economics from diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives.
