Job Summary:
IFPRI seeks a qualified candidate to serve as a Research Fellow II or Senior Research Fellow for a 2-year, renewable appointment in its Development Strategies and Governance Unit. This position is based in Lilongwe, Malawi. The candidate will play a key role in conducting research, capacity building and policy communication activities to support IFPRI’s research and policy engagement in Malawi.
Essential Duties:
• Coordinate and lead research that supports policy formulation in Malawi on topics such as economic development, poverty reduction, food security, rural transformation, estate and smallholder farming models, agricultural markets, rural labor markets, modernizing value chains, and urbanization.
• Participate in the management of research projects, including developing workplans, coordinating research activities, engaging in capacity development activities, monitoring and reporting on progress, and sharing research findings.


Essential Qualifications:
• At the Research Fellow II level:
o PhD in Economics, Development Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
o At least 5 years of relevant post-PhD experience.
• At the Senior Research Fellow I level:
o PhD in Economics, Development Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
o At least 7 years of relevant post-PhD experience.
