The Department of Agricultural Economics, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University invites applications for one full-time, Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) position with a 9-month academic appointment beginning Fall 2024. Applicants will be considered for the faculty title of Instructional Assistant Professor depending on qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Retirement Planning (FINP 439), Insurance Planning (FINP 436), and Introduction to Personal Finance (FINP 101). The primary duties will be teaching three courses per semester related to financial planning in an in-person format during the Fall and Spring semesters. This position is defined as broad financial planning, with a focus on the areas of insurance and retirement. Responsibilities will also include committee service, student engagement and recruitment, and industry relationship building.

Responsibilities for this position include teaching three courses at the undergraduate level, with the potential for one of these courses to be a stacked course with graduate students. The successful candidate will be expected to have experience in the classroom and experience enhancing classes with a learning management system, such as Canvas. Other classroom responsibilities would include grading coursework, conducting office hours, mentoring students in the class, and taking students to conferences.

Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from a regionally accredited institution.
• Experience mentoring and advising college students in relation to classroom activities.
• Documented success of teaching and advising excellence when working with college students.
• Proven leadership in organizing student competition teams to financial planning conferences.
• Evidence of innovativeness, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience building industry relationships and fostering corporate sponsorship.
• Public speaking experience in the field of financial planning.
• Membership and/or leadership experience within professional organizations related to financial planning.
• Demonstrated expertise in research with publications in relevant journals.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff.
