The Department of Economics at the University of Washington invites applications for one full-time, Assistant Teaching Professor in Economics. Candidates from all sub-fields of Economics, including but not limited to Macroeconomics, will be considered. This is a full-time appointment with a 9-month service period (September 16th-June 15th) each year and an anticipated start date of September 2024. This initial appointment to this position is for up to three years, with the possibility of renewal. The position is not tenure eligible. Our goal is to recruit a strong candidate who will build a long and successful career that advances the teaching mission of the department. Promotion to higher academic ranks (Associate/Full Teaching Professor) will be assessed based on departmental and college criteria.

The base salary range for this position will be $10,000 - $12,200 per month on a 9-month basis ($90,000 - $109,800 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

University of Washington teaching professors engage in teaching and service and participate in the intellectual life of the department. Duties will include teaching large introductory courses in macroeconomics, as well as advanced-level undergraduate courses. Candidates will be expected to participate in the management of the undergraduate program.

Candidates must demonstrate the ability for high-quality instruction based on previous teaching evaluations. Applicants must have a PhD degree, or foreign equivalent, in a relevant field by the start of the appointment.

The teaching statement should describe the applicant’s teaching interests, teaching philosophy, and reasons for seeking the position.
