The Department of Economics at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position beginning in fall 2024. The position offers a competitive salary, 3/3 teaching load, and research support.

Teaching responsibilities will include upper- and lower-level courses. Special consideration will be given to those candidates with a demonstrated ability and interest in teaching courses in Economic History of the United States, International Trade, and/or Macroeconomics.

A PhD in economics by August 2024 is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic teacher who maintains an active research agenda, has the potential or demonstrated success publishing in peer reviewed journals, mentors undergraduate students, and recruits economics majors.

Weber State University is a public, open enrollment, urban university located 35 miles north of Salt Lake City at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. WSU is predominantly an undergraduate university, but has several excellent graduate programs housed within Goddard School of Business and Economics. The Goddard School is committed to teaching and research excellence as evidenced by AACSB accreditation. The Goddard School offers a financial incentive program for research. Quality teaching and an active program of peer reviewed research will be required for successful tenure and promotion.

Physical Requirements of this position: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or consistently to move objects, including the human body. Sitting most of the time. Walking and standing only occasionally if ever.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.

The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position: None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
