The Department of Economics at Colorado State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor whose primary research and teaching agenda uses frontier empirical tools to address social issues of equity and sustainability. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated mastery of causal inference techniques in their research or teaching, as well as a willingness to teach undergraduate and graduate courses on causal inference, applied to pressing social issues in a liberal arts environment. Preference will be given to candidates focusing on inequality or stratification, including their racial, ethnic or gender dimensions. Demonstrated experience in data science techniques including big data, wrangling and visualization, and machine learning are also valued.

The Department values both strong teaching and research, offering programs of study leading to B.A. and Ph.D. degrees with graduate fields in political economy, public, development, international, regional, and environmental economics. Ph.D. must be completed by the time the appointment begins on 16 August 2024. The successful candidate will be appointed untenured and at the rank of Assistant Professor. Tenure requires both scholarly accomplishment and excellence in teaching. Candidates who can advance the department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion through scholarship and teaching are encouraged to address these goals in their application.
