The Department of Economics at Swarthmore College invites applications for a full-time tenure track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2024. We seek candidates committed to excellence in both undergraduate teaching and scholarly research and who contribute to building diverse and inclusive communities. The successful candidate will have research interests related to the applied economics of inequality, poverty, and/or economic opportunity broadly defined, and will teach courses in related fields as well as core courses in the major.

Located in the suburbs of Philadelphia and near Wilmington DE, Swarthmore College is a highly selective liberal arts college whose mission combines academic rigor with social responsibility. The Economics Department is one of the strongest liberal arts departments in the country, with 12 tenure-track faculty, a diverse and engaged student population, and abundant opportunities for collaboration with colleagues and students. The standard teaching load is 2 courses per semester, with a paid leave every fourth year and generous research support.
