The Department of Economics in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan seeks applicants with a Master’s or Ph.D. in Economics or a related field for full-time or part-time Lecturer I positions to begin August 29, 2022, pending authorization. These are non-tenure track positions.

Anticipated Term of Appointment: Fall Term only, Winter Term only, or both Fall and Winter Terms
Anticipated Per-Term Appointment Effort: 33% (one course), 67% (two courses) or 100% (3 courses)

Pending budgetary approval, the Department of Economics is seeking lecturers in Economics for one appointment or two consecutive appointments in the Fall 2022 and/or Winter 2023 semesters (August 29, 2022 - December 31, 2022 and/or January 1, 2023 - April 30, 2023). The department has particular teaching needs in econometrics, statistics, and financial economics, among a variety of other economic subfields.

Duties of these Lecturer I positions are expected to include teaching, developing course materials, evaluating and grading students, and holding regularly scheduled office hours. A typical full-time (100% effort) load for a Lecturer I in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is three courses per semester. Full-time and part-time positions are available.

A Lecturer I would be responsible for teaching economics courses, and could be assigned a variety of courses at multiple levels each term, depending upon their appointed effort.

Expected Appointments:
Fall 2022: 3 courses with a 33%-100% FTE appointment
Winter 2023: 3 courses with a 33%-100% FTE appointment

Must have earned Master’s or Ph.D. in Economics or related field prior to commencement of appointment on either August 29, 2022 (preferred) or January 1, 2023. Strong preference for Ph.D. in economics. Preference for degree specialization or experience teaching in econometrics and/or significant experience as the primary instructor for large (300+) enrollment undergraduate courses.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
