The Statistical Services Manager in the Department of Politics manages the Quantitative and Analytical Political Science (QAPS) statistical consulting service. This program provides expert assistance to graduate and undergraduate students who are conducting statistical analysis in their research. The manager serves as a consultant and oversees a team of graduate student consultants who also provide assistance to other students. The manager may also be appointed as a lecturer when teaching precept sections and serving as head preceptor for POL 345: Introduction to Quantitative and Analytical Social Science, or other undergraduate courses in quantitative methods, as needed.

Responsibilities include:
-Administrative management of the QAPS consulting service, including selection of graduate students to serve as consultants, oversight of their work, scheduling management, updating the QAPS website, etc.
-Individualized research consultations and outreach to graduate and undergraduate students in Politics and other fields in the social sciences. This requires advanced expertise in statistical methods and experience advising students on this type of independent research.
-Development and delivery of training workshops (in-person and virtual) on statistical computing, including Stata and R, with a focus on political science research.
-Teach precept sections for POL 345: Introduction to Quantitative Social Science and serve as head preceptor, which includes assigning students to precept sections, fielding questions and concerns regarding the course, coordinating the work of graduate student preceptors, etc. The manager will hold a secondary appointment as lecturer when engaged in this work during the academic year.
-Outreach and support to Politics faculty in relation to their research and possible research collaboration.
-Assist with the coordination of the Internal Methods Workshop (IWM) for graduate students and the Quantitative Social Science Colloquium (QSSC).

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree or PhD in political science, statistics, economics or related field.
Expertise in STATA and R programming language
Knowledge of datasets commonly used in political science research

Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. preferred.
Experience teaching statistical analysis and computation.
Experience advising empirical research at the graduate and/or undergraduate level in both a classroom and an online setting.
