Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is instituting Jal Jeevan Mission Professor Chair in Utility Development & Water Economics. Candidates should have a Ph.D. with a minimum of 10 years of experience in teaching advanced courses in business/economics schools at Masters/Ph. D. level, a successful track record of research and publication, and publications in top quality internationally reputed journals.

Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) was launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India on 15th August 2019 to enable every rural household to have Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) by 2024.

Jal Jeevan Mission Professor Chair in Utility Development & Water Economics will be established at IIM Bangalore to carry out high quality empirical and applied research in rural drinking water and sanitation sector. Such research will form the basis for evidence-based policy and technological interventions in the sector. The action plan for the Professor Chair is to comprehensively cover education, research, training, innovation, outreach, capacity building, and undertake academic programmes.
