Professors Raj Chetty (Harvard University, Economics), John Friedman (Brown University, Economics), Nathan Hendren (Harvard University, Economics), and Michael Stepner (University of Toronto, Economics) are seeking a full-time Health Economics Research Scientist. The position builds on prior work on income, mortality, and economic mobility and will have a general focus on using big data to study the determinants of health inequality. In particular, the Research Scientist will support work on a recently awarded National Institutes of Health (NIH) award to develop, analyze, and disseminate a new database to measure the association between income, race, and mortality in relation to COVID-19 and broader health conditions. The Research Scientist will be based at the NBER starting Summer 2022 and will have an affiliate role with Opportunity Insights at Harvard University.
This is a long-term position supported by a 5-year NIH grant. The position will last duration of the project, subject to grant funding.
The ideal candidate should be completing (or have completed) a PhD in economics, public health, statistics, computer science, or a related field. Other requirements and position context listed in full job posting.
