Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), within the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), seeks candidates for temporary economist positions. As part of its responsibility for regulatory policy within the Federal government, OIRA reviews draft regulations and information collections from Federal agencies including Health and Human Services, Transportation, Treasury, and the Environmental Protection Agency.

We seek candidates with graduate degrees in economics or a related field (PhD preferred) and at least three years of academic, government or other relevant experience. Candidates must have excellent analytical and written and oral communication skills.

Economists will:

o Review Federal agencies’ analyses of the economic impact of proposed regulations and public policies to ensure consistency with Executive Order 12866 and current economic literature.

o Draft reports on the benefits and costs of regulation.

o Provide authoritative analysis to policy officials on proposed regulations and public policy issues.

These positions are one-year and are authorized under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act Mobility Program (under which personnel are paid by their long-term employer, rather than OMB).
