Research Associates: The nonprofit & nonpartisan Urban Institute believes in the power of evidence, data and facts to improve lives and strengthen communities. We currently have opportunities for Research Associates in many of our policy centers. All positions have responsibilities which include designing the research approach and selecting appropriate quantitative or other analysis tools, planning and executing a major segment of research projects in policy areas related to welfare, retirement, tax policy, immigration, population studies, labor, public health, education, child welfare and criminal justice. Successful candidates will have a PhD in Economics and interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment.
Research Associates require strong quantitative skills with demonstrated expertise in research methods, preferably through course work or experience in a relevant research position. In addition, this role requires proficiency with statistical software packages (such as STATA, R, SAS or SPSS), exposure to policy related issues, project management experience and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
