Full Text of JOE Listing:

We are looking for ambitious economists to become the next science leaders in our organization.

SiriusXM + Pandora have joined to create the largest audio entertainment company in North America, reaching more than 150 million listeners. You will join a team of top-notch scientists with diverse expertise in economics, statistics, and machine learning, to conduct innovative research using big data and large-scale field experiments.

We work on a wide range of issues: measuring the impact of advertising on listeners' behavior, customizing advertising and marketing, improving subscription strategies, modelling listener behavior, designing and testing innovative products, evaluating ad effectiveness for external clients, and improving the standard of science and causal inference across the company. Our team is part of a larger science team conducting research that shapes the future of the audio entertainment industry by developing innovative music listening experiences. Members of our science team often publish research in academic journals and conferences.

In this role, you will receive mentoring from more senior scientists, and you will have freedom to find the areas where you as an economist can have the greatest impact and thrive as a researcher. In our fast-paced and collaborative team environment, your research will influence important business decisions and the lives of our tens of millions of listeners.

Provide credible causal inference on a variety of advertising and marketing problems, from advertising effectiveness to price elasticities, especially via field experiments.
Optimize corporate policies on advertising and marketing.
Present work to your teammates and relevant business stakeholders.
Partner closely with product, analytics and engineering.

PhD degree in economics or a related field (e.g., marketing, statistics, political science).
Expertise in credible causal inference, from difference-in-differences to field experiments.
Talent for identifying and solving high impact business problems.

Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in industrial organization, particularly pricing, bundling, and advertising.
Proficiency with analytical tools such as R and Python.
Proficiency with common machine learning algorithms.
Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
Experience working with large data systems.

We are looking to hire both new PhD's and professors wanting to change careers.
