Economist

The Independent Budget Office (IBO) is seeking an economist with a keen interest in public policy. IBO provides nonpartisan information on the city budget and tax revenues. The economics team conducts research focused on NYC, generates forecasts, and responds to information requests.

Qualifications:
Candidates with experience in local economic modeling or revenue forecasting and tax policy analysis are strongly preferred. A Ph.D. in Economics is preferred. Experience in an applied research organization and writing for a policy-oriented audience a plus.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate skills in quantitative research and policy analysis. Commitment to impartial research is essential. Must be comfortable working collaboratively, juggling multiple tasks, and interacting with a variety of stakeholders. Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines is critical.
