Full Text of JOE Listing:

The Digital Markets Initiative (DMI) is a faculty-driven program in the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business. Its mission is to examine the business and regulatory implications of the growing presence of digital markets through rigorous and relevant research, public engagement, and student mentorship. This associate position enables an outstanding early-career economist to visit the University of Florida’s campus for up to two years of intensive research on economic aspects of digitization of business.

The associate will be a key member of the DMI faculty. The associate will work under the supervision of DMI Director Mark Jamison. It is expected that the associate will conduct independent research, collaborate with other faculty in research projects, and be an active participant in other aspects of DMI’s work, including planning seminars, conferences, and workshops. While the position is housed in the Warrington College of Business, the DMI faculty is interdisciplinary, including faculty from Departments of Economics, Finance, Information Systems and Operation Management, Accounting, and Telecommunication, as well as the Levin College of Law. The associate is encouraged to pursue interdisciplinary collaborations and build his or her research portfolio. The associate is expected to publish research in top-tier academic journals. Past associates have written on impacts of broadband on entrepreneurship and employment, effects of the iPhone on internet development, value of internet services during the pandemic, and the effects of iPhone and Android platforms on business development.
