University of Michigan’s Survey Research Center (https://www.src.isr.umich.edu/) within the Institute for Social Research invites applications from outstanding candidates for a full-time position of Assistant Research Scientist for the Institute for Research on Innovation and Science (IRIS). The successful candidate will work closely with Jason Owen-Smith, Jinseok Kim, faculty collaborators from partner universities, and IRIS’ professional staff on projects to measure and analyze the impact academic research has on the development of scientific knowledge, individual scientists’ careers, and the health, prosperity and well-being of society.
We seek researchers who would thrive in our entrepreneurial, interdisciplinary, collegial, yet highly autonomous culture. This scholar will aid in the design and development of new projects and will also contribute to several active projects including analyses of the effects of early career awards, paid research experiences, large-scale cyberinfrastructure investments, and COVID-19 have on scholarly productivity and academic research. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in the social sciences or related disciplines. Individuals from groups historically under-represented in the social sciences are strongly encouraged to apply.
