Full Text of JOE Listing:
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is seeking to fill a position for an Infrastructure Investment Economist in its Office of Transportation Policy Studies. The Office is an interdisciplinary group of economists and other specialists who conduct research to support the development of transportation policy and legislative initiatives. The Economist will be responsible for independently formulating and conducting economic studies of legislative and policy issues, and leading the development and application of benefit-cost analysis and other policy analysis tools to prepare Congressional reports and research papers. A principal focus is projecting future investment needs for our nation’s transportation infrastructure system.
We are seeking motivated candidates who will thrive in a dynamic work environment, providing strategic vision and leadership in public policy development. Candidates should possess a strong research focus, extensive experience in economic modeling, and ability to work in diverse teams. Candidates must be able to develop and direct procured elements of this research program. Candidates must also be able to effectively communicate program requirements, methods, and results with policy officials outside the economics profession.
