The Faculty of Economics at the University of Tokyo invites applications for tenure-track assistant professor positions in economics beginning in September 2021. Applicants in all fields of Economics will be considered. We are particularly looking for applicants in microeconomic theory, macroeconomics, and empirical microeconomics (IO, labor, trade, development, urban, environment, and health).

The successful candidate will conduct research and teach at Faculty of Economics of the University of Tokyo. The positions are for 7 years with an initial 3-year appointment followed by a 4-year term subject to a successful midterm review.

The University of Tokyo is a leading research oriented university, and our department has a strong body of faculty members in microeconomic theory (https://www.mdc.e.u-tokyo.ac.jp/en/utokyo-microecon/), macroeconomics (https://sites.google.com/view/macro-group-u-tokyo/), and empirical microeconomics (http://www.crepe.e.u-tokyo.ac.jp/empiricalmicro.html). Review of applications will begin on February 5, 2021 and will be accepted until February 12, 2021. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted. Interviews and research presentations will be conducted via Zoom. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in economics at the time of their appointment.
