The UNC School of Government Criminal Justice Innovation Lab (Lab) seeks a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
The Lab seeks to promote a promote a fair and effective criminal justice system, public safety, and economic prosperity. It engages a broad range of stakeholders to examine the system through an evidence-based perspective and promotes evidence-based policy.

Quantitative research regarding racial equity in the criminal system using court data and examining data points such as charging and case outcomes.
Deliverables such as print and online materials, data visualizations, and research papers.
Support for ongoing projects.
Project management.

The Fellow will have opportunity to engage with stakeholders, including judicial leaders, prosecutors, defenders, law enforcement, and community members.

Supervisor: Lab Director Professor Jessica Smith

Required Qualifications:
PhD in criminology, economics, political science, public health, or related field
Empirical research skills, with a heavy emphasis on quantitative research
Proficiency with SQL databases/SQL programming language
Proficiency in data extraction, merging and management
Ability to be professional in a nonadvocacy, nonpartisan environment

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the criminal system
Proficiency in R Markdown or R Shiny
