The Department of Economics invites applications for an associate or advanced assistant professor position beginning August 2021, subject to budgetary funding. This position will anchor a new sustainability initiative being launched by the Terry College of Business. The successful candidate will have a well-developed research agenda addressing important questions related to sustainability and a strong interest in teaching courses dealing with sustainability challenges. The initiative has already attracted significant private funding that will assure a generous level of research support. Candidates with a field in development, health, industrial organization, labor, urban economics or macroeconomics are preferred, but candidates in other fields with interests in sustainability are also encouraged to apply.
All candidates must have a PhD. Appointment at the associate professor level requires a strong record of publication in top journals consistent with the standards for those ranks set forth in the Terry College Promotion and Tenure Guidelines, and demonstrated effectiveness in graduate and undergraduate teaching. Candidates at the assistant professor level must have at least three years of experience after completing their PhD and show great promise as researchers and teachers at the undergraduate and graduate levels. To be eligible for tenure on appointment, candidates must be appointed as an associate professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution.
