Full Text of JOE Listing:

Jane Street is seeking exceptional economic researchers for the role of Quantitative Researcher, based in our New York headquarters. Strong candidates will have significant experience working with empirical data and statistical models; no specific background in financial market analysis is required.

Researchers at Jane Street collaborate with field experts, other research teams, and trading groups to build models that combine deep economic understanding with careful analysis of data. Successful models inform the strategies and systems that we use to price, trade, and understand an enormous variety of financial instruments worldwide, and researchers work closely with traders and other nonspecialists to tailor these models to specific applications.

Put another way: if you're excited by the problems on offer in a data scientist role elsewhere, we encourage you to apply to the Research team here -- or to reach out if you'd like to chat and learn more.

About you:
- Have good taste in research, and be comfortable pushing in unexplored directions while maintaining clarity of purpose.
- Work nimbly to combine large datasets, statistical models, and economic understanding in tackling big open questions.
- Communicate precisely and openly with subject-matter experts and nonspecialists alike.

Application Requirements:

We'll be conducting interviews of Econ job market candidates remotely, starting January 2021. We're also happy to arrange for an informal chat about research roles at Jane Street before January; reach out at the same address.
